FAQ

The quick answers — free to play, seasons, permadeath, $CRIME, and more.

The short answers to what new players ask most. Want the full picture? Start with your first days, or see how the city stacks up against Torn and the other crime MMOs.

What is Crime City?

A round-based, permadeath mafia MMO you play in your browser on desktop or mobile — no download. You rob, train, fight, and climb the leaderboard before the season ends. It is free to play at crimecity.fun.

Is Crime City free to play?

Yes, the whole game is free. VIP adds optional perks and $CRIME rewards the top players, but neither is required to play or to compete. VIP is an edge, never dominance.

Do I need to download anything?

No. Crime City runs entirely in the browser on desktop and mobile. You can install it to your home screen as an app if you like, but there is nothing to download from a store.

What is a season?

Crime City is played in monthly seasons. A new season starts on the 1st and the round closes on the 26th; the days in between are the off-season. Every season, everyone restarts from the same line: level 1, $1,000, no reputation. 25 real days equal 100 in-game days — the city clock runs four game days per real day.

What does permadeath mean?

If another player kills your character, they are out for the rest of the season — there is no respawn. The only way back is a one-time VIP revival. Jail and hospital are just timed setbacks, not death. Bank your cash and pick fights you can win.

What is $CRIME?

$CRIME is Crime City's token on the Solana blockchain. It is fully optional — the game is completely playable without it. In-game it buys VIP at a discount, one-hour training, once-per-game-day ticket refills, bounties and racing pots, and every token spent feeds the treasury that pays out season rewards to surviving players. Deposits and withdrawals go through the in-game Crime Bank.

Do I need a crypto wallet to play?

No. Crime City is free and wallet-optional. A wallet only matters if you want to deposit or withdraw $CRIME or buy VIP with crypto. You can play the entire game, and compete for the top of the leaderboard, without ever connecting one.

Is Crime City pay-to-win?

No. VIP gives you an edge — bonus tickets, an activation boost, harder-hitting attacks — but it cannot buy dominance, and the monthly wipe resets everyone to equal footing. Activity and smart play decide the season.

How do I make money in the game?

Actively through robberies, car theft, and gang jobs. Passively through hookers and drug factories. Financially through bank interest of up to 6 percent a season plus a stock market. And at the tables, through racing pots and the casino if you like the odds.

How do I tag another player in chat?

In Global or Gang chat, type @ or press the @ button beside the message box, then choose a player from the suggestions. Global chat searches active players and Gang chat only suggests members of your gang. You can tag up to three players in one message. A tagged player gets an amber @ badge in the matching chat; opening that badge jumps to the message and clears it. If no matching player exists, the @name stays plain text and sends no notification.

Is Crime City like Torn?

It is in the same family as Torn, Omerta, Mob Wars and MafiaBits — a text-based mafia crime RPG in the browser. The big differences: it resets in monthly permadeath seasons, so there are no entrenched veterans, and top survivors earn real $CRIME on Solana.

Can I have more than one account?

No. One account per player. Multi-accounting is against the rules and is a bannable offense, both in the game and in the community.
