Seasons & Permadeath

The round ends for everyone. For some, it ends early.

Crime City is played in seasons: 100 game days - 25 real days - and then the round closes, the leaderboards freeze, and the whole city resets. Everyone starts the next season at level 1 with the same $1,000 and the same empty record. Nobody defends a throne here; they re-earn it.

What survives the reset

Carries overResets
Your username, avatar, and bioStats, level, and respect
Your linked walletCash in hand and in the bank
Your $CRIME balanceBuildings, hookers, cars, gear, bullets
Achievement badges, shown on your profileGang membership, gang treasuries, and VIP status
The only thing you keep
$CRIME is the one form of wealth that outlives the season. Everything else is rented from the city.
Gang treasuries do not carry over
A gang does not survive the reset, and neither does its vault. Whatever $CRIME is left in the treasury at the close is paid out to the gang leader (minus the usual 10% dispatch fee) - not shared back among the members who donated it. See Gangs (Families) for what leaders should do about that before the clock runs out.

Permadeath

Hospital stays and jail time are setbacks. Death is not. A kill operation is the ordinary PvP route to permadeath; the separate 100-strike Hall of Shame death applies only to administrator-pilloried characters. A killed gangster stays out for the season unless their one VIP-code revival is still available.

Ordinary kill death begins by settling your pending auctions, training, race lobbies, placed Bounties, and other escrow. If the killer survives, they loot 80% of your resulting cash in hand and 60% of your $CRIME balance. All bodyguards die. A valid testament heir receives 40% of your bank balance and as many of your best-condition cars as their garage can hold; untransferred cars remain with the dead character. Gang succession resolves separately.

What remains is frozen on the dead character, not immediately burned. A VIP-code revival returns you to that remainder but does not restore anything already looted, inherited, settled, or killed. Without revival, it remains inaccessible until the round reset wipes it. The dead page identifies the killer unless the operation was anonymous; ordinary murder victims do not enter the Hall of Shame.

There is one way back
A dead, non-banned player can consume a VIP code for one revival per round and returns with 15 minutes of kill protection. Used this way, the code revives the character instead of granting VIP status; an existing VIP keeps the status they already had.

The off-season

When the round closes, standings are snapshotted for the permanent season record - and everything you still had in play is settled on the spot. Anything the city was holding in escrow for you - open bids, staked pots, unclaimed contracts, a session you were part-way through - comes back to your balance at the moment of close, and nothing half-finished is delivered. Refunds land before the snapshot, so your final standings count them. Bullets, items, cars, and cash itself still die with the round, but refunded $CRIME carries across - and because it's back at close, you can send it straight to the round-end withdrawal queue during the off-season. Anything that isn't escrow (operations, gang sessions, unclaimed heist loot) simply freezes and is wiped. Between rounds you can browse the off-season recap to relive the season's numbers, and queued $CRIME withdrawals settle. Then a new round starts and the city forgets you all over again.

What happens to your money at the end of a season in Crime City?

Cash in hand, bank balance, bullets, cars, buildings and gear are all wiped when the round closes. $CRIME is the exception — it carries across seasons, and anything the game was holding in escrow for you is refunded to your balance at the moment of close, before the final standings are snapshotted.

What carries over between Crime City seasons?

Your username, avatar, bio, linked wallet, achievement badges and your $CRIME balance. Everything else resets: stats, level, respect, cash, property, gang membership and VIP status.

Can you come back after dying in Crime City?

Only once per round, and only with a VIP code. A dead, non-banned player can consume a VIP code for a single revival and returns with 15 minutes of kill protection. The revival does not restore anything already looted by the killer, inherited by an heir or settled out of escrow. Without a revival the character stays dead until the season resets.

How long is a season in Crime City?

Twenty-five real days. A season opens on the 1st of the month at 20:00 UTC and the round closes on the 26th at the same hour, followed by an off-season before the next round starts. The city clock runs four game days per real day.
